Build an Agent From a Requirements Doc and an Instructions File

◇ Could this help me?

Yes for the sequence, with a review step inserted. The order is genuinely good and more disciplined than most build-it-fast content: deciding what the thing does in a requirements document, writing down what the agent may and may not do in an instructions file, and only then generating code is the right sequence, and starting from the most annoying recurring task is better advice than starting from a tool. The part to change is the unsupervised middle: hitting execute, waiting half an hour, and then running the result locally with no review in between is where this goes wrong, because the first time anyone looks at the code is after it has already run. General practice, and the can-and-cannot list in the instructions file should be enforced by what the agent is actually permitted to touch rather than only described in a file.

I want to build a small agent for a recurring task, and I want a review gate in the middle. First, interview me about the task and write two things: a requirements document covering what it does and what a user sees, and an instructions file stating explicitly what it may and may not do, including anything it must never touch or send. Then stop and show me both before writing any code. When I approve, build it, but at the end walk me through what you actually wrote, which files it reads or writes, what network calls it makes, and what credentials it needs, before I run it. Tell me how to enforce the may-not list through actual permissions rather than relying on the instructions file.
