Ask a Side Question Without Interrupting the Main Task

Claude Code / Skills◆ Intermediate◆ Advanced@ty.farragosaved MAY 06

◇ Could this help me?

Yes. Asking a question without polluting the main thread solves a small problem that happens constantly: the natural impulse mid-task is to ask what is happening, and doing that in the main conversation both interrupts the work and leaves the detour in context for every subsequent turn. A side channel that inherits the context but not the consequences is the right shape for that, and the cost of using it is nothing. General practice, with one honest note: the command name in this clip is not usable as spoken, so confirm the actual syntax from the agent's own help output rather than from the audio.

List the slash commands my installed version of this agent actually supports, and point me at the official reference for them rather than describing them from memory. Then tell me specifically which command opens a side conversation that inherits the current session's context without interrupting the task in progress, show me the exact syntax, and explain what the side thread can and cannot see. Finally, tell me which kinds of question are worth asking there and which ones are big enough that they belong in a separate session instead.
