Claude Code's /checkup Command: 7 Fixes That Cut Context Bloat

Claude Code / SkillsIntermediateAdvanced@agentic.jamessaved JUL 12

◇ Could this help me?

Yes. Verified independently: /checkup is a real built-in feature, shipped in Claude Code v2.1.205 (July 2026) as an alias of the expanded /doctor command, and its cleanup of unused skills, duplicate CLAUDE.md content, and slow hooks is a genuine context and speed win that confirms with the user before changing anything. It is a general Claude Code update, not project-specific, though the two permission-related fixes (auto mode on by default and pre-approving frequently used read-only commands) deserve careful review before being accepted.

Run /checkup in Claude Code for this setup. When it proposes fixes, list every proposed change grouped by type (unused skills, MCPs, and plugins; CLAUDE.md dedupe and splitting; slow hooks; version update; auto mode default; pre-approved read-only commands) with a one-line impact note for each. Do not apply any change without explicit approval, and flag the permission-related changes (enabling auto mode by default and pre-approving commands) for extra scrutiny before they are accepted.
